The Governor in Shida Kartli,-Giorgi Khojevanishvili, along with the representatives of the local Self-government honored the memory of those who were killed in the war of Abkhazia and decorated the memorial of the heroes with a wreath.
„Today is the most tragic day in the latest history of our country. About thousands of Georgians were forced to leave Abkhazia and became refuges 25 years ago. It is very important that each of us will contribute to the restoration of relations with compatriots and return of the occupied territories. We honor the memory of those who were killed in the war today and I’d like to repeat once more that we all must do our best in order to give an opportunity to the refuges for dignified life in the inseparable part of Georgia Abkhazia ‘’,-said the Governor.
The armed conflict started in Abkhazia on the 14th of August,1992,which had continued for 13 months and 13 days. The armed combat actions were ended by defeating of Sokhumi on the 27th of September in 1993.
