The Regional Administration intends to cooperate closer with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)

Giorgi Khojevanishvili,-the State-Representative in Shida Kartli met with Beka Dzadzamia,- the representative of  Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).  They discussed the implemented agricultural projects in Shida Kartli and future perspectives at the meeting.  They also focused on the existing situation    and challenges in agriculture field of the region. The plans which will be implemented jointly in future in Shida Kartli were highlighted and the ways of agriculture development were discussed.  According to the State-Representative, the region has a great potential in agriculture and it needs much more support. For this purpose, a close cooperation with the international organizations and getting recommendations  from them  and sharing their experience are  very important.

Georgia became a member of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1995. The mandate of the organization in Georgia envisages support of Georgian government projects in the direction of ensuring sustainable development of food safety and agriculture, forestry and water management sectors.
