Shida Kartli State Representative,-Giorgi Khojevanishili and his Deputy Nugzar Samkharadze met with the representatives of USAID Economic Security Program. Head of the program Mark McCord talked about the project in detailed, focused on its goals and importance. According to him, the program aims to accelerate the growth of sectors that have the potential to create jobs, increase revenues and increase the profitability of micro, macro and medium enterprises. The program aims to support the expansion of the agricultural sector, economic activities in tourism and other sectors.
At the meeting the sides discussed the opportunities and prospects of the program in the context of Shida Kartli region. According to Giorgi Khojevanishvili, the regional administration is ready to actively cooperate and promote successful implementation of the project.
“It is important for us to work closely with international organizations, each new project provides a good experience for the region, especially when the projects are aimed at enhancing the region's finances and economy, creating jobs and improving the quality of life. I hope our cooperation will be successful’’,-said the State Representative.
The project is planned to be implemented throughout the country. Over the next 5 years, the program will help create at least 4,000 new jobs and enhance 600 large, small and medium-sized enterprises. It will also increase sales of backed companies by $ 50 million and attract $ 15 million of investment in the partnership.
The program includes 4 components-enhancing partnership in the target sectors; Supporting the realization and improvement of the efficiency and quality of micro, small and medium enterprises and their creation of new products and services; Developing the sector-specific workforce and promoting public-private cooperation.
