The fire in the forest of Ateni Gorge has been already liquidated. Mobilization of the fire brigades of the Emergency Management Service, the employees of Special Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the rangers of the National Forestry Agency operatively implemented at the very first minutes of the fire. Despite the hard relief, it was possible to extinguish the fire with the help of the combined intensive work of the fire protection techniques and live forces in some hours.
Giorgi Khojevanishvili,-the Governor of ShidaKartli, Mamuka Saghareishvili,-The Director Of the Police Department of Gori and the representatives of the local government were at the place of the incident and participated in the management of the fire extinguishing.
According to the Governor of Shida Kartli, Giorgi Khojevanishvili, the fire caught about 8 hectares of the land.
,,About 8 hectares were in the fire. However, mostly the lower cover of the forest was burning. The live forces and fire protection techniques are staying at the place for monitoring and prevention of the territory. It is very important that, despite of a hard relief, there was an immediate mobilization of fire –brigades and the employees of Special Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and they managed to save the whole forest, in fact,-said Giorgi Khojevanishvili.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs started investigation with the second part of Article 188 of the Criminal Code of Georgia on the fact of damage or destruction of the item under the care of fire or with the threat of increased threat, which envisages two years of imprisonment.
