Medium  term Strategy of Decentralization was Discussed in Shida Kartli

National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALG) with supporting of Program of Development of the United Nations (UNDP) conducted a meeting in Shida Kartli region. The second stage of the project of  medium term strategy of decentralization in regions was discussed (2019-2025). The main goal of the meeting was to organize a dialogue between central and local governments on the issue of decentralization and to consider the interests of the local government in a new strategy of decentralization.

The strategy implies the development of decentralization processes up to 2025 and includes self-government as well as new responsibilities and greater financing and participation of citizens in decision-making processes.

Representatives of the Shida Kartli Regional Administration, Shida Kartli municipalities, as well as NGOs and international organizations together with the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure participated in the discussion of the project.

Discussion of the decentralization strategy project in the regions is supported by the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (UNDP), UNDP, Danish, Switzerland and Austrian governments in cooperation with the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.
