The field session of regional policy and the committee of self-government was held in Shida Kartli region. The amendments to the local self-government code and the projects planned in the region were discussed at the meeting. Giorgi Khojevanishvili,-Governor in Shida Kartli opened the meeting and spoke about the peculiarities of social-economic development of the region and its challenges.

Among the rapporteurs were the Chairman of the Parliamentary Self-Government Committee Zaza Gabunia, Deputy Chairman of the Committee Merab Kvaraia, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Ilia Begiashvili, Director of Municipal Development Fund Giorgi Shengelia, the mayors of the region municipality and other officials.

The participants of the session focused on the perspective of tourism development in Shida Kartli and discussed the planned projects: constructing-rehabilitation of state roads of high importance, gasification, improvement of water supplying and melioration works, projects of the environment protection , installation of shoreline landfills, supporting of start up and projects for development of high mountain regions, etc.

After the meeting, the participants viewed important infrastructural projects and construction sites which are going on in the region.
