Giorgi Khojevanishvili,-the State Representative in Shida Kartli and Levan Davitashvili,- Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia planted oak and ash-trees nearby ‘’Baiaaantkhevi’’. Relevant works were done to improve sanitation within the project of forest restoration and just at the beginning of the season the activities of afforesting have been started. 6000 saplings, among them 4800 oak trees and 1200 ash-trees will have been planted at this area by the end of April this year.
Last year a phytopathological research was held at this which confirmed that the damage of the tress and their drying up were caused by a wrecker insect- a wood-cutter of oak trees. Forest restoration project together with planning of important sanitation cuttings was prepared which will be implemented at 3,3 hectares.
