A newly renovated public school has been opened in the village of Kveshi, Gori municipality, near the dividing line. The project was implemented with the financial support of the US Embassy, Corps of Engineers.
The opening ceremony was attended by the school children and their teachers together with the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Mikhail Chkhenkeli, The Ambassador in charge of the United States toGeorgia,- Elizabeth Rudy, Shida Kartli State-representative George Khojevanishvili, the Mayor of Gori Municipality Konstantine Tavzarashvili, the Metropolitan of Gori and Ateni Diocese,- Andria Gvazava.
A three-storied building was fully rehabilitated ,that cost $800 000. The roof, windows and doors and the floor have been changed, a new heating system has been installed, the staircase has been reconstructed, toilets have been renovated, the perimeter of the schoolhas been fenced. A newly rehabilitated public school in Kveshi will serve 247 pupils and 37 teachers.
,,Our pupils and teachers will continue the academic process at newly rehabilitated and convenient school from today, and first of all, I thank the US Embassy in Georgia, which is another proof of the friendship between the two countries. Promoting education is one of our government's top priorities, and the US government is supporting us in this process. It is doubly important that the newly rehabilitated school is located on the line of occupation, we will do our best to ensure that all young people or teachers living here have all the necessary conditions,’’-the State-representative said.
