Memorial service was held in April 9 square, for those who died April 9, 1989. The ceremony   was attended by the acting governor of Shida Kartli, Ioseb Okromelidze, Officials from Shida Kartli State Representative-Governors administrations and City Gori and Gori Municipalities. They adorned the memorial with wreath and prayed for those souls who died for the independence of the country. After the funeral a small event was held in the square by the participation of children from Youth Cultural- Educational centre.
