New orchard planted in Shida Kartli within the framework of the United Agroproject

The manager of the agroproject “Plant the Future” of the Agricultural Projects Management Agency Levan Dolidze and the head of the regional projects coordination department of the Shida Kartli Governor’s Administration Giorgi Bugianishvili watched the process of orchard planting of the beneficiary of the program in the village Aphnis of Kareli Region Constantine Davitashvili. Constantine Davitashvili joined the program in 2016 and received the state funding of 100,000 GEL for planting of cherry garden on 15.1 hectares and arrangement of irrigation system. Out of the received funding 68,040 GEL were intended for rootstock and 31,960 GEL for irrigation. 

Giorgi Bugianishvili mentioned that the project is very important on the regional level and would support population involvement in agricultural activities. Besides, Governors administration would support this program and spread the information all over the region.  

By the end of the year, apples, plums, peaches, cherries and almonds will be planted on 603 hectares in Shida Kartli: Gori, Kareli, Kaspi and Khashuri regions. In the villages bordering the zone of occupation 17 beneficiaries have planted already 91 hectares within the agroproject “Plant the Future”. Over the country the planted area exceeds 1470 hectares and the amount of funds exceeds 7.7 million GEL allocated for planting of new orchards and arrangement of irrigation system.
