Simplification of Land Registration - Minister of Justice Presents New Regulations in Gori

After holding similar meeting in Zugdidi, Kutaisi and Telavi, Minister of Justice, Thea Tsulukiani met today with the representatives of the Shida Kartli regional administration, to discuss the legislative changes, which will allow the population to register their land property without barriers. The purpose of the meeting was to provide comprehensive information about simplification of  land registration procedures, so that local authorities will be able to offer relevant consultations to their citizens in the future.
 
The meeting was held at Gori Public Service Hall and was attended by Deputy Minister of Justice, Mikheil Sarjveladze and Head of the National Agency of Public Registry, Papuna Ugrekhelidze. Under the Minister of Justice's initiative, similar meetings will be held in all regions across the county.
 
The Georgian Parliament passed the bill that significantly simplifies the registration of land property for the citizens. The draft law was prepared by the Ministry of Justice. The changes are aimed at elimination of the difficulties, which the owners of the land property face during the registration process.
 
The new initiatives will be aimed at simplification of real estate registration procedures and protection of land-owners’ rights.
 
As of today only 25% of all land in Georgia is registered, which is quiet a small portion. Amendments to the legislation will simplify the land registration process and encourage private owners to register their lands without any barriers. While working on the project, the Ministry of Justice revealed specific problems hindering the land registration, and prepared respective legislative amendments to overcome them.
