Farmers started harvesting wheat in the eastern part of Georgia. Wheat and barley crops have already been harvested at 66 585 ha across the country. Harvested area in Kakheti region includes 56 229 hectares, while in Kartli - 7 449 ha , 2 436 ha in  Shida Kartli region and 471 ha in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region. Due to a bad weather wheat harvesting started almost simultaneously in Kakheti and Kvemo Kartli regions, however Ministry of Agriculture has taken measures to ensure harvest to run smoothly, without any hindrance and engaged all service centers across the country in the crop collecting and farming processes.

87 farming machinery of the LLC. ‘’Mekanizatori’’ is involved in the harvesting process together with 30 combine harvesters brought from Azerbaijan and other agricultural machinery owned by the private sector.

At present, 72 farming machinery is engaged in Kakheti region, ( 52 brought by LLC. ‘’Mekanizatori’’  and 20 from Azerbaijan), 19 combine harvesters are mobilized in Kvemo Kartli region, (9 - LLC. ‘’Mekanizatori’’ and 10 brought from Azerbaijan), 20 combine harvesters were allocated in Shida Kartli, while 5 units in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region and one combine harvester in Samtskhe-Javakheti region.

The farmers should take into account agro terms and act in a coordinated manner to avoid losses and ensure harvesting and storage of crops - addressed  LLC.  ‘’Mekanizatori’’ to the residents of the above mentioned regions.Georgia set the record for corn yield, in comparison with the last year, both crops’ area and yield have almost doubled, according to the recent data it’s almost 4 tons per hectare. The area of wheat crops in Georgia exceeds 80,000 ha, while of barley – 40,000 ha.
